Ohio State football has produced amazing wide receiver talent for the NFL for years now, and with Carnell Tate heading to the 2026 NFL Draft, that trend seems to be continuing. After Tate, the next star wide receiver from Ohio State heading to the NFL most certainly will be Jeremiah Smith. Simply from his first year in college football, everyone knew he would have a bright future ahead of him.

Smith, however, has been adamant about not leaving Ohio State too early and winning many championships with the Buckeyes. It seems like he is also setting up Ohio State for success in the receiver room with the work he is doing off the field.

Ohio State scored big with the signing of five-star wide receiver recruit Chris Henry Jr., who gave the Buckeyes a scare in the Early Signing Period. He chose to stick with Ohio State, and now we know that a big reason for that was Smith.

Jeremiah Smith put on the recruiting hat to go and get Chris Henry Jr.

In the video below, Smith is speaking about elite recruit Chris Henry Jr. and what it is going to be like when he finally joins the Buckeyes. The sophomore wide receiver seems pretty excited to get him in the building and sees something special brewing.

Smith said that Henry is really the only player he put the recruiting hat on and helped get to Columbus. While he didn't try to force Henry into a decision, he simply laid out what makes Ohio State so special, and feels like going to Columbusis simply a no-brainer.

To have such a high-caliber player like Smith going out and recruiting a guy as high-caliber as Henry shows a lot about this football program. Smith could have just kept to himself and done his time at Ohio State and moved on, but instead, he is working to build the team in order to get better.

While Smith may not be at Ohio State forever, he certainly helped the Buckeyes out tremendously by helping bring Henry to Columbus, and now they will get to be on the field together in 2026 and create something special.
