How the Ohio State football team's loss to TTUN will affect Signing Day
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team can't beat Michigan. They proved that with another loss on Saturday. Scoring only 10 points against the worst Michigan team the Buckeyes have played in over a decade is inexcusable. The game plan made absolutely no sense. Consequences could be coming.
Early Signing Day is on Wednesday. The Ohio State Buckeyes are trying to seal up a top-three recruiting class. They have suffered some de-commitments in the last couple of weeks. A loss this bad could lead more recruits to re-think their decision to come to Columbus.
The good news for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes is that a lot of recruits took to social media on Sunday to reaffirm their commitments. That includes number two overall recruit Tavien St. Clair. He was leading the charge of Buckeye recruits still showing support for the program.
How losing to Michigan again could affect the Ohio State football program's recruiting class
Despite a lot of recruits pledging support, this loss will certainly have consequences on the recruiting trail. The guys that they were trying to flip will certainly stay with their current commitments, including five-star offensive lineman David Sanders Jr. He decided not to visit on Saturday. That was clearly the right call.
The good news for Ohio State is that they are still going to end up with a top-five class. Even if a few guys flip between now and Signing Day, the class is still full enough to bring in a lot of talent. The top priority for Day and his staff is now damage control with these recruits.
Day needs to get as many of them to stay as possible because the transfer portal window opens soon. Once it does, the Buckeyes are going to lose a lot of guys. He also needs to show that he can keep the program running in the face of adversity. His job depends on it.
