Get-in prices for Ohio State vs. Notre Dame right before kickoff are ludicrous

Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be packed and Atlanta has been rocking for the past few days thanks to the National Championship Game taking place on Monday night. If you were lucky enough to get tickets to watch Ohio State football try to take down Notre Dame, congrats.

Yes, congrats because you saved yourself a LOT of coin. As of this writing, there are plenty of Ohio State and Notre Dame fans who don't have seats for the action yet, but they've been checking sites in hopes that maybe, just maybe prices will go down ahead of kickoff.

The exact opposite has been going down, however. That's right, if you want to get a last-minute seat for the action, you better be ready to pay prices that are comparable to watching the Super Bowl. Yup, things are out-of-this-world expensive:

So, you're not getting into the stadium without having at least $5,000 available? Around $12,000 for a great seat in the lower level. Hey, forget about saving for retirement, but who cares, just spend all that dough on the biggest college football game of the season!

In all seriousness, we never imagined prices would ever reach this level, but when you've got two teams with as much history as Ohio State and Notre Dame, it looks like you can never guess how high things can get for a spot to catch the action.

This is set to be a fun matchup, as both sides are feeling quite confident about their chances to come out on top. Ohio State has been on an improbable run, silencing their haters throughout the College Football Playoff.

The exact same can be said about Notre Dame, as Marcus Freeman and Co. have posted some head-turning results. Ryan Day and his playmakers are ready to spoil their fun and bring the title home to Columbus. We'll see if Will Howard and his teammates can post one final key win for the Buckeyes, but we'll be watching from home. Nope, we don't have $5,000 to spare unfortunately.
