Ryan Day has been busy with spring practices and the upcoming spring football game at Ohio State, but that doesn't mean his recruiting game has slowed down. The Buckeyes have continued to receive official visit dates and landed in the top choices of numerous recruits recently, and even landed a few commitments.
While Ohio State has not received an official commitment since December, with the summer recruiting cycle beginning soon, that should quickly change. As of right now, Day has nine hard commits in the class, giving the Buckeyes the No. 4 class in the nation, according to 247Sports.
The Buckeyes could be on their way thought to gaining a commitment as soon as before the spring game on Saturday, as four-star EDGE rusher Mekai Brown has set a commitment date for Friday, April 17 where he will choose between his top five schools.

Mekai Brown could add more depth to Ohio State's pass rush if he chooses the Buckeyes
Brown narrowed his program list down to five before setting his commitment date, and the Buckeyes are battling Notre Dame, Texas A&M, USC, and Ole Miss. All five schools are also having good success in this recruiting cycle, and it feels like the decision could be any school.
Ohio State's most recent commitment came from another EDGE rusher, DJ Jacobs, who is currently the only five-star recruit in the Class of 2027 for Day. Day has yet to add any more pass rushers on the defensive line in this recruiting class, for Brown could be a building block for the future, along with Jacobs if he chooses the Buckeyes.
It feels like Ohio State's biggest competition could be Notre Dame, as Brown just recently had a visit to South Bend and things reportedly went pretty well. The good news for Day and Ohio State is that just because Brown commits somewhere doesn't mean he can't flip later down the line.
If Brown is a player Day desperately wants for the future, he could work to continue to build a relationship, especially if he sets an official visit after his commitment.
