The Ohio State football program is solely focused on recruiting right now. Now that they have hired all of their new coaches, they can turn their full attention to the recruiting trail before Spring ball starts. They have a lot of great players they need to replace from their 2024 national title team.

With the Buckeyes being defending champs, it's easier to get recruits interested in committing because Ryan Day has signed a big extension. He now has the job security that he didn't have even back in November after the terrible loss to TTUN. Now, recruits know Day will be there for a while.

The Buckeyes have already started recruiting offensive linemen very hard. It's a much different approach than what Justin Frye did while he was the offensive line coach. Tyler Bowen has already started going after a ton of linemen, and one has narrowed down his list recent.

Tommy Tofi has the Ohio State football program in his final eight schools

Tommy Tofi, a four-star offensive lineman from San Francisco has reduced his final list of schools to eight. He is the top interior offensive lineman in the state of California. The Ohio State Buckeyes are on that list, as are some other big schools.

Besides the Buckeyes, Oregon, USC, Utah, Cal, Tennessee, UCLA, and Miami are the final schools on his list. Tofi is massive for an interior offensive lineman, standing at 6'6 and 320 pounds. He is someone who could likely play either guard spot or right tackle depending on what is needed from him.

Ohio State just needs more offensive linemen in general. The lack of recruiting at that spot has hurt their depth up front. While it might not catch up with them in 2025, 2026 doesn't look great. That's why they are trying as hard as they can to get some good offensive linemen in that recruiting class.

It will be a while before some of these recruits decide to commit, so the Buckeyes have to keep offering scholarships to good players. That has been their new strategy, and it seems to be better.
