Former Ohio State football players always seem to make a lot of money once they get to the NFL. That's not by accident. The Buckeyes do a great job of preparing their players for the next level. They have had several players set records with the contracts they've signed in the pass.

We have entered another NFL free-agency period. That means that more Ohio State Buckeyes get to sign massive deals with either new teams or their old teams. We've already seen one Buckeye link up with an old teammate out in New York after signing a big deal.

Another former Ohio State football player has signed a massive deal. Former Buckeye tight end Luke Farrell has signed a deal with the 49ers in free agency. This is the first time he has switched teams after he was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2021.

Farrell signed a deal worth $20.25 million over three years to head to San Francisco. He now gets a chance to put up better numbers than he was in Jacksonville where the offense is not as good. The former Buckeye has clearly proven his value in the NFL so far, though.

Last season, he had just 12 catches for 67 yards and was clearly an afterthought in the passing game. In Jacksonville, he wasn't able to do much for them. He still hasn't been able to record his first receiving touchdown in his career. He's hoping that San Francisco will be different.

What sets Farrell apart is that he has proven to be a very good blocker in the NFL. That's what makes him worth this deal to the 49ers. He has found value besides being able to catch the football, which he still can do when he's given an opportunity.
