The Ohio State football team played for a national championship in 2020. In that season, the Buckeyes had a great offense. They were able to score at will thanks to the combination of Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson. They were one of the best quarterback/wide receiver duos in the country.

Both Wilson and Fields went on to be first-round picks in the NFL. Wilson has already established himself as one of the best receivers in the league. Fields is about to join his third team, but he has now re-joined Wilson on the same roster after a move in free agency.

Former Ohio State football player Justin Fields signs deal with the New York Jets

Fields has signed a deal with the New York Jets for two years worth $40 million. He is now lined up to be their starting quarterback after spending a year with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fields started the first handful of games for the Steelers while Russel Wilson was hurt.

This deal puts him back with Wilson, which could really help Fields be a really good quarterback. He knows how Wilson plays and what position he needs to put him in to be successful. This could be a big move for the Jets as they try to re-tool their roster.

Wilson has been able to put up big numbers with the Jets even though he has had some bad quarterback play for his entire career. He has had over 1,000 yards receiving in every year of his career so far. That won't change with Fields throwing the ball to him.

The former Buckeyes should be excited to play with each other again. They loved playing with each other at Ohio State, and now they get to do so in the NFL. Wilson had to have recommended that the Jets bring Fields in. They wouldn't have done this deal otherwise.
