Former Ohio State RB TreVeyon Henderson has Finally Found Success in the NFL

Former Ohio State and current New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson struggled mightily to begin his NFL career. However, in his last couple of games, he has finally started to put it together.

Former Ohio State star Treveyon Henderson struggled to get going in the beginning of his NFL career. After being drafted 38th overall to the New England Patriots, Henderson's expectations were sky high. He was coming off a senior season in which he averaged 7.1 yards per carry and scored 11 total touchdowns, helping lead the Buckeyes to their first national championship in a decade.

However, his transition to the NFL did not begin as expected. While splitting time with fellow back Rhamondre Stevenson in his first nine games, Henderson only managed to collect a combined 77 carries for 283 yards and one touchdown. But with Stevenson sidelined due to injury over the last two weeks, Henderson has had a chance to prove he can be an important piece on the Patriots' offense, and he has done just that.

In the Patriots' last two games over a five-day stretch, Henderson has exploded. Henderson enjoyed his breakout game last Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which he ran the ball 14 times for 147 yards and two touchdowns.

Patriots fans had finally received a Henderson performance they had been waiting for all season. Thursday against the struggling Jets, Henderson continued his positive momentum, rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns as well as 31 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Patriots coach and former Buckeye Mike Vrabel had positive things to say about Henderson following Thursday's game. "I would say the best couple runs he had were there late in the game when it's tough sledding," Vrabel said. "No home runs tonight, but I thought he grinded out pretty much what was there." Vrabel stated earlier in the week that Henderson would get a "big load" on Thursday, and he delivered on his word.

TreVeyon Henderson and the Patriots stand alone atop the AFC with a 9-2 record. They are currently on an eight-game win streak and look to stay hot next week when they visit the Cincinnati Bengals. If Henderson continues to produce like he has the last two games, the New England offense is going to be tough to slow down come playoff time.
