Former Ohio State QB says his transfer worked out for both parties

The former Ohio State football player also claims he was rooting for Ohio State to win it all.

The Ohio State football team went on a historic run during the 2024 season to win the national championship. After losing to TTUN, they rallied and were able to go on an epic four-game run to win it all. Quite frankly, it was one of the best runs in the history of the sport.

None of it would have been possible if it wasn't for Will Howard. Howard transferred into the program after Kyle McCord decided to leave. While McCord transferred to Syracuse, Howard came into Columbus and did things that McCord was unable to do with the Buckeyes.

Howard has a shot to be drafted higher than McCord now, even though McCord led the country in passing. Both are at the NFL Combine this week as they try to improve their draft stock. McCord was asked about transferring away from Ohio State, and he was complimentary of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Former Ohio State football player Kyle McCord thinks his transfer worked out for all involved

McCord mentioned that he thinks his transferring away from the program ended up being the best for all parties involved. He also claims that he was rooting for them to win it all by the time they were in the College Football Playoff, something that I find hard to believe.

I find that hard to believe because of his comments following the Michigan game. He seemed glad that the Buckeyes lost that game. I know he has friends on this team, but I still think part of him was hoping that Ohio State wouldn't win a title the year after he leaves.

He is right that the transfer worked out for all parties involved. McCord got to go somewhere with less pressure and the Buckeyes were able to bring in a guy who could put them over the top. Howard proved that he is a lot better than a lot of people said he was.

This Ohio State football team will go down in history. Howard has an outside shot to be a first-round pick. Meanwhile, McCord's tenure with the Buckeyes will just be a footnote in Buckeye history.
