The Ohio State football team had to get a new quarterback this offseason. That was because the old quarterback, Kyle McCord, decided to transfer. He didn't even stick around to play the Cotton Bowl. The Buckeyes ended up getting Will Howard to take his place.

We can debate whether or not McCord left on his own or if he was told to leave. It doesn't really matter. He transferred to Syracuse and led the nation in passing this year. He threw for 4,326 yards, albeit while averaging a whopping 46.5 attempts per game.

McCord ended up finishing the regular season by leading the Orange to an upset win over Miami and potentially knocking them out of the College Football Playoff. He has been feeling himself since. He made some interesting comments about the Ohio State Buckeyes recently.

Kyle McCord takes a shot at the Ohio State football team

While on the Dan Le Batard Show, McCord was asked whether or not he was happy to see the Ohio State Buckeyes lose to Michigan. He had this to say in response.

McCord clearly used his departure from the Ohio State football program as motivation. He probably wanted his team to win a little bit more than what they did this season. Ohio State also wished they could have beaten Michigan. But I take an issue with one comment he made.

Losing the Michigan game last year did come down to McCord. He threw two interceptions in the game, including a near pick-six. That kept the Buckeyes from being able to win. Howard also played poorly against TTUN, but for McCord to say he wasn't part of the problem is just wrong.

Even though he won't say it, he's clearly happy that the Buckeyes lost The Game. He pretty much confirmed that last week when he said, "Everything comes full circle" after he beat Miami. But Ohio State is still playing football, and McCord and the Orange are at home watching.

Ohio State can still win a national title without him.
