Over the last two seasons, the Ohio State Buckeyes have had Julian Sayin as the starting quarterback. He has clearly shown himself to be the right starter, as he was a Heisman Finalist in his first year as a starter. This year, he's off to another great start, as evidenced by what he did against Illinois.
Lincoln Kienholz was the backup a year ago to Sayin. He decided to transfer to Louisville to have a chance to be a starter. Even though he is at a new place, he still has love for the Buckeyes. He showed that love during an interview while he was on ESPN's College GameDay.

While on GameDay, Kienholz made it clear that he still loves Ohio State, even though he is no longer playing for the Buckeyes.
“It was a blessing. Those three years there, I learned so much from Coach Day and his offense, getting to practice against the best guys in the nation every day was a blessing. It put me in this position.”
Kienholz is using those skills to help the Cardinals. In his game against Wake Forest, he finished with 324 passing yards and a touchdown through the air. He also had two rushing touchdowns. However, the Cardinals fell to the Demon Deacons 30-27, even though they were at home.
Kienholz never complained when he was at Ohio State. He tried his best to work as hard as possible in order to eventually become a starter. He seems to be the perfect fit for the Cardinals. However, that hasn't translated into a lot of wins. Louisville is just 2-2 so far this season.
Ohio State fans will forever love Kienholz, even though he didn't play much for Ohio State. The one game he played a lot was in the bowl game against Missouri in 2023, when he was thrust into the starting spot after Devin Brown got hurt in the first quarter.

Even though Kienholz is a much better runner than Sayin is, he is not close to the level of a passer that Sayin is. Sayin continues to be great, as he finished 27/36 for 367 yards and four touchdowns, while also running for a touchdown. He is the best quarterback to run this system.
Sayin looks to be another Heisman contender. He has only thrown one interception this year so far through the first four games that he has played. However, he might not be the top Heisman contender on his team. Jeremiah Smith had an all-time game, catching four touchdowns.
Perhaps if Keinholz would have Smith to throw to, he would be even better for the Cardinals. Regardless, he will be loved by Ohio State fans for the rest of the season. This loss likely takes them out of a chance to make the College Football Playoff for Keinholz, but he would root for Ohio State if they get there.
