The Ohio State Buckeyes got a major PR win in the form of 2026 second-round pick Davison Igbinosun's post-draft comments about being ready to compete in the Buffalo Bills' cornerback room after competing in Columbus for three years.
Not only did Igbinosun celebrate the competition in the cornerback room he had, which included fellow draft picks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock, plus current Buckeyes like Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Devin Sanchez, but he celebrated the litany of elite receivers he faced in practice every day. Marvin Harrison Jr. got a specific shoutout.
“It prepared me completely to be in an environment like the NFL,” Igbinosun said. “A place like Ohio State and recruiting five-star after five-star every year, your spot, your job is on the line every practice. So I’m prepared for the NFL...“That was the whole point of me going to Ohio State. Why would I not go against Marvin every single day?”
Most impressively, Igbinosun owned up to the 16 interceptions he amassed over the past few seasons, saying, “I studied my own tape because I had to. ... I realized I wasn’t getting beat. I was in great position a lot of the time. Those pass interferences should have been pass breakups and interceptions.”
Ryan Day's program is getting PR wins left and right lately
Between the 25 players selected over the past two NFL drafts, Igbinosun's endorsement of playing on a loaded OSU roster, and Will Howard's recent admission that he was treated infinitely better by the Buckeyes than the Kansas State Wildcats, Day's program is looking like the place to be for top recruits.
In due time, Ohio State will overtake the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the most NFL draft picks in history. At that point, Day will have all the infinity stones for his pitch to prospects on the recruiting trail.
For now, he still has former players raving about their experience and plenty of institutional backing to do the job.
