The Ohio State football program creates all kinds of great NFL players. Every year, they have talent roll into the league from different positions. Over the last four years, the Buckeyes have had a receiver go in the first round of the NFL Draft. That streak looks like it will continue this year, too.
The Ohio State Buckeyes make sure that they prepare their guys for the toughest possible competition. That's what they face in the NFL every single game. Ohio State makes sure they have premium players at every position to foster competition. That competition helps develop guys.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba is one of the more recent pros to come out of Ohio State. He will be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday against another former Buckeye, Mike Vrabel. Both of them were honored by the NFL by winning the Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.
Two former Ohio State football players earn NFL honors
Smith-Njigba was voted as the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He led the league in receiving and was clearly the best receiver in the country. He is a massive reason why the Seahawks were able to make the Super Bowl. In just four years, he has become the best receiver in the league.
Vrabel won NFL Coach of the Year for the second time in his coaching career. This time, it was after his first season of coaching the Patriots. He was previously the NFL Coach of the Year with the Titans. Now, he will be coaching in his first Super Bowl.
Ohio State helped develop both of them into great players. Vrabel won multiple Super Bowls as a player, and now he's going to try to win one as a coach. If he's going to do that, TreVeyon Henderson, another former Buckeye, is going to have to play a big part in the game.
