The Ohio State football team is a factory when it comes to producing NFL wide receivers. They do it better than anyone else in college football, as evidenced by what happened this weekend. That is one of the biggest reasons why Julian Fleming chose Ohio State out of high school.
Fleming was a highly-touted recruit, as he was the fourth-overall recruit in the 2020 recruiting class. He was expected to be another great receiver for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Unfortunately, injuries really sapped any chance that he had to live up to that height.
After four years with the Buckeyes, Fleming transferred to Penn State last season and was even less productive with the Nittany Lions. Now, his life after football is looking bleak as he is facing some serious charges for his role in an ATV accident that killed his girlfriend.
Former Ohio State football player is facing serious prison time
Fleming is facing several felony charges after the ATV he and his girlfriend, Alyssa Boyd, were riding struck a deer. He is facing charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, homicide by vehicle, aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, and aggravated assault by vehicle. He also has a DUI charge.
This is a tragic situation all around, and it looks like one that could put Fleming behind bars for quite a long time if these allegations are true. Everything about this situation is alleged until he has his trial. Still, the details don't look great for Fleming at this point.
The former Buckeye has a long legal fight ahead of him. This is certainly a situation that could have been avoided had Fleming avoided alcohol while they were on the ATV. Had they both been wearing safety equipment, perhaps there would have been a different outcome, as well.
This situation doesn't look like it will be resolved any time soon.
