At this point, it is abundantly clear that Will Howard was an upgrade over Kyle McCord for the Ohio State football team. Howard raises the ceiling of this team in a way that McCord was unable to. He's a massive reason why the Ohio State Buckeyes are playing for a national championship.
For a lot of the Cotton Bowl, he was dealing. He did have one bad throw when he was trying to force it to Jeremiah Smith in the third quarter, throwing an interception. Other than that, he was lights out. He finished the game 24-33 for 289 yards with a touchdown and that pick.
The Buckeyes are taking on Notre Dame. They've already heard a current player call them out. Now, a former Irish player is calling out Ohio State. Specifically, he's calling out Howard. Former Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire had some choice words for Howard.
Former Irish QB calls Ohio State QB Will Howard the worst OSU QB in 15 years
Zaire decided to open his mouth and talk trash. He called Howard the worst quarterback Ohio State has had in the last 15 years.
Obviously, this is heinously wrong. Howard has been spectacular this season, especially during this College Football Playoff run. He has proven to be a much better passer than Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard, who is more of a running threat than anything.
Howard proved to be the best quarterback in the CFP. He's taken down two SEC teams and the number-one team in the country. Not only that, but 288 yards is the fewest he's thrown for in any of those games. Zaire has no clue what he's talking about.
I guess it's to be expected from a quarterback who couldn't even finish his career with Notre Dame. Zaire was so bad that he had to transfer to Florida for his final season. He never threw for more than 450 yards in an entire season, so he has no place to talk on quarterback play.
Howard gets a chance to prove everyone wrong in a week. He has a chance to go down as an Ohio State football legend.
