Ohio State has been the No. 1 team in the country since taking down Texas the first full week of the season. It was quite the game with the retirement of Lee Corso before the game and picking Brutus with his final headgear pick, and then the Buckeyes shutting down Arch Manning. The Buckeyes have shown since then that they are practically untouchable with that stingy defense and offense that is now coming together.
According to one former Heisman Trophy winner, Robert Griffin III, though, the Buckeyes going into Week 6 were not the No. 1 team in his mind. He felt the Oregon Ducks were the best team in the country, and when they were beaten by Indiana, he is now even putting the Hoosiers over the Buckeyes.
On his podcast, Outta' Pocket, Griffin talked about the Hoosiers and the Buckeyes and how they are certainly the top two teams in the country right now, but he is happy to make the case for Indiana over Ohio State; however, his reasoning for it is laughable.
Griffin III believes that the game Indiana had over Illinois is the reason he puts the Hoosiers over the Buckeyes. The fact that Indiana absolutely demolished Illinois, more than Ohio State did, is his reasoning, but it is not as black and white as that.
Indiana is the best team in all of College Football right now and should be ranked #1.

When Indiana played Illinois, these were their top five defensive backs. The Fighting Illini were playing with a pieced-together secondary, which, of course, Indiana's offense took advantage of. Those players were back against Ohio State, and while the Buckeyes took advantage of Illinois' mistakes, they didn't win by as large a margin.
A lot of people want to make the claim that the Buckeyes have yet to really play a top team, even counting Texas in that lot, as they dropped out of the rankings after a loss to Florida, but are now back in after an upset win over Oklahoma.
The Buckeyes are blowing out their opponents and breezing through the season, and some are looking at that like it doesn't mean anything. Ohio State is the best team in the country, the No. 1 team, for a reason, and while Indiana is looking better and better, they are not above the Buckeyes until they can knock Ryan Day and his team down.
