Last month, there were plenty of Ohio State football fans who were a bit surprised when quarterback Devin Brown announced that he was going to be entering the portal. Since then, the former 4-star signee has received plenty of recruiting interest.
Now, though, we know where Brown will be heading, with his decision coming the day after the Buckeyes and Ryan Day took down Notre Dame to win the National Championship. According to Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Brown has signed with Cal. People had high hopes for Brown with the Buckeyes, but this latest decision is taking him to the ACC:
Ohio State QB Devin Brown has reportedly signed with Cal
This is a big get for Cal, as Brown has two years of eligibility remaining and he's going to look to make a splash to close out his college career. Brown has been waiting patiently to get his chance to start, with the idea that it would happen for him in Columbus.
However, the Buckeyes haven't given him the keys to the offense yet, which proved to be the right call for them in 2024. With Will Howard transferring in from Kansas State, he lit up the Big Ten and was spectacular in the College Football Playoff.
Thanks to Howard throwing the ball all over the field, the Buckeyes went on a dream run to capture the program's ninth National Championship. Howard raised his NFL Draft stock, while Brown will hope to do the same in '25, but he'll be doing so with Cal and not under Day's leadership.
