The Ohio State football program continues to do some hard work on the recruiting trail. They have the third-best class in the 2026 recruiting class, which is pretty good. They still have their eyes on the number-one overall spot for the first time in school history.
In order for them to get there, they have to land some of the five-star recruits that they have on their radar. They have more five-star recruiting commitments than any other program in the country. They have their eyes on a few more, including one of the best safeties in the country.
Even though the Buckeyes already have the number-one safety in the 2026 recruiting class, they are aiming to get another five-star in that position. They are going heavily at Jett Washington, a five-star safety from Bishop Gorman in Nevada. He has set an official visit with the Buckeyes.
Five-star recruit Jett Washington sets an official visit to the Ohio State football program
Washington is a huge safety, standing at 6'5 and 200 pounds. He is a big hitter at the safety spot and can also cover receivers very well. His ball skills are impressive, too. Washington has set an official visit for June 6-8, which is right after he will be at USC.
Other than USC, Washington will be visiting Alabama and Oregon. Those are the three other schools that are battling with the Ohio State Buckeyes for Washington. He is a really good player who is likely going to be one of the best safeties in the country once he does reach the collegiate level.
Matt Guerrieri is trying to land as many great safeties as he can in a single recruiting class. He thinks that competition makes for better players, and that's how all of Ohio State's coaches feel. We'll see if Washington feels the same way.
