The Ohio State football program is still trying to add more recruits to the 2026 recruiting class, but that isn't the only class that they are recruiting for. The Buckeyes just added a recruit from the 2028 class last week, and would add a recruit to the 2027 class if they could, as well.

While 2026 is the priority, camp season has brought in recruits from multiple classes. One of those recruits is five-star recruit Cooper Witten. If his name sounds familiar, it's because he is the son of former NFL tight end Jason Witten. His father was one of the best tight ends in the league.

Witten is one of the five-star recruits in the 2027 class. He has Ohio State as one of his top five final schools. The Buckeyes would love to have him on the roster. Witten is rated as the number-one linebacker in the country in the 2027 recruiting class.

Witten is 6'1 and 210 pounds out of the state of Texas. He has offers from all of the major programs, and the Buckeyes are standing out as one of the top five schools for him. They have to beat out programs such as Clemson, Alabama, and Tennessee.

James Laurinaitis has proven that he can recruit some great linebackers to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Laurinaitis has done a good job of developing linebackers in his short time as a full-time coach with Ohio State. He has turned into one of their best recruiters.

It's unclear when Witten will make his final decision on where he will go to school. Ohio State will do its best they can to get him on campus for an official visit. Once he's on campus, the Buckeyes have a great chance to grab him.
