The Ohio State football program had a massive recruiting weekend. They had several five-star and four-star recruits in Columbus for visits, hoping to get some commitments out of them. The Buckeyes still only have 13 commitments for the 2026 recruiting class.
Coming out of the weekend, several recruits enjoyed their visit. While no commitments happened immediately on Sunday morning, a few recruits still had some positive things to say about their time in Columbus. One of those was five-star linebacker recruit Xavier Griffin.
Griffin is listed as the second-best linebacker in the class of 2026 out of Gainesville, Georgia. He has all of the big schools after him, considering Alabama, Texas, Florida State, and Georgia alongside Ohio State. He seemed pleased with what he saw in Columbus.
Five-star linebacker gives high marks after visit to Ohio State football program
Following his visit with the Ohio State Buckeyes, Griffin said that Ohio State is definitely one of his top schools and a contender for sure.
Linebackers coach James Laurinaitis has already proven that he can recruit very well at his position, doing so last year. He has stepped in and done some really good things with the linebackers in just a short time. The Buckeyes now have to make sure they can land Griffin.
Right now, Ohio State has just one linebacker recruit in the 2026 class, three-star CJ Sanna. Adding Griffin to the fold for this class would be massive. He is one of the best players in the country, not just one of the best linebackers. He earned that five-star rating for a reason.
If the Buckeyes can land Griffin, they will have a good shot at possibly winning a recruiting national championship. There are a lot of five-star kids who could help them achieve that goal that still have yet to make up their minds.
