The Ohio State football program is getting ready for a huge recruiting weekend. They have a few five-star and four-star recruits coming in the next couple of weeks. The Buckeyes are ready to make a good impression on these recruits and get some commitments.
Yesterday, we told you about one particular five-star recruit who announced a visit to Ohio State. Richard Wesley, a five-star edge recruit announced a visit to Ohio State for the weekend of the Texas game. He did this despite the fact that he was committed to Oregon.
Wesley announced visits to multiple other schools, which seemed strange considering the fact that he was committed to another school. Now, it makes sense because he has de-committed from Oregon. Ohio State now has a real chance of landing him.
Ohio State football recruiting target de-commits from Oregon
The Ohio State Buckeyes have a chance to land Wesley now that he is no longer committed to another Big Ten team. What makes things better is that he will be taking an official visit during the biggest game of college football's opening weekend.
Wesley is one of the best recruits in the country at any position, so the Buckeyes are hoping they can get him. If Larry Johnson could bring him in, that would be massive for his recruiting chops. Fans have been getting worried about whether or not he is still able to recruit at the level he once could.
Ohio State has a lot of other recruits they are worried about landing before Wesley comes to Columbus for a visit. Still, they now have a real shot at landing one of the best pass rushers in the 2026 recruiting class. They have to plan for that as the rest of the class is put together.
Matt Patricia is going to have a big part in his recruitment, too.
