Every year, the Ohio State football program has elite receivers. Jeremiah Smith is the crowned jewel of that room again this season. He enters the 2026 season as the best receiver in college football, and probably the best overall player. Yet, he will need some help on the opposite side of him.

Teams double-teamed Smith frequently a year ago, which left Carnell Tate with some more chances to catch passes. Those additional chances helped him become the fourth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The issue is that Tate is now gone, and that leaves the Buckeyes with the need for someone to step up.

Brandon Inniss is a former five-star recruit and someone whom the Ohio State Buckeyes are looking to get production from. He hasn't delivered on that production in the first three years he's had in Columbus. Based on a video circulating on social media, fans don't think he will this year, either.

Video has Ohio State football fans concerned about Brandon Inniss

A video of Inniss running a route and catching a touchdown pass with one hand has Ohio State fans concerned and other fan bases clowning him. Check out the video here, although it does have an NSFW word in the caption. The video doesn't inspire much confidence.

In the video, Inniss doesn't seem to run much of a route, which is against no one, and doesn't do it at full speed. Of course, there is no context to this video, so it's tough to really analyze it too much. Fans of the Buckeyes didn't seem too pleased, though.

This is Inniss' final year in Columbus. He hasn't lived up to his recruiting billing. He has never had more than 271 yards receiving in a single season. At the same time, he's always had receivers who are better than him ahead of him on the depth chart. That could be a skill issue on Inniss' part, though.

The Buckeyes need Brandon Inniss to step up this season

If Inniss isn't able to step up, that means that Ohio State is going to have to lean more on transfer receivers Devin McCuin and Kyle Parker. Chris Henry Jr. might be the most talented receiver on the roster not named Smith, but it might be too much to have a true freshman become the second-best receiver on the team.

Figuring out who that second receiver is going to be will be something that Ryan Day and his staff need to figure out pretty quickly in the Fall. In a new offense, getting multiple receivers out there as weapons would be a big help. Inniss would ideally be that second weapon.

This video shouldn't change anyone's opinion on Inniss. He has had his detractors throughout the years. He's also had his supporters. No matter which side of the fence you sit on, you likely won't change your mind after seeing this workout video.

Ohio State's first game is still four months away. The entire team has plenty of time to improve before then.
