The Ohio State football program has plenty of talented players on the roster. That is why they are one of the favorites to win the national championship this season. Of course, they also lost a fair amount of talent last year, too. They had four first-round picks, which was by far the most of any program.

One of those players was Carnell Tate, who was the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Buckeyes need someone who can replace him and his production. One of the players whom the coaching staff is hoping can step into that role is 5-star freshman Chris Henry Jr.

Henry Jr. has a chance to be the second receiver on the outside opposite Jeremiah Smith. Smith is the best player in the country, and he is the premier weapon. Henry Jr. is hoping to be the next great Buckeye receiver, and now he has signed an NIL deal that proves he has big expectations.

Ohio State receiver Chris Henry Jr. signs an NIL deal with Nike

Henry Jr. has signed an NIL deal with Nike, which is a major sponsor of the Ohio State Buckeyes. They are actually the biggest sponsor of the program, and they provide the football program with some sick uniforms. Having Henry Jr. sign a deal with them says that they are a real deal.

The Buckeyes are going to be relying on Henry Jr. a lot early on in his career. However, his talent makes it seem that he is up for the challenge. His size and strength were shown off in the Spring Game, which gives fans hope that he can be an impact player right away.

Nike doesn't just sign anyone to deals, even just NIL deals. They clearly believe that Henry Jr. has the potential to be a superstar player. That is exactly what the Buckeyes are hoping for, because he is perhaps the heir apparent to Smith. That's what that deal represents.

Ohio State has multiple Nike NIL athletes

The Buckeyes have multiple athletes who have signed with Nike. Henry Jr. now becomes the third player who has an NIL deal with the athletic giant. He joins Bo Jackson and Jermaine Mathews Jr. as the other athletes who will be getting money from the Swoosh.

With that being the case, Ohio State knows exactly how much money each player is making. With NIL becoming a much larger selling point in recruiting, the Buckeyes can't afford to be skimpy. However, Ryan Day has done a good job of threading the needle when it comes to that.

Henry Jr. will likely sign more NIL deals if she is shown to be the superstar that everyone believes he can be. A strong freshman season would certainly help him get a raise, although he doesn't need the money. His dad made a lot of money in the NFL, and Henry Jr. is going to be making a lot of money once he gets to the NFL himself. Ohio State is excited to see what he can do.
