Ex-Ohio State football player Kirk Herbstreit post in Michigan gear gets deleted

A former Buckeye had to don Michigan gear as his son committed to TTUN. For some strange reason, the post is no longer up.

Former Ohio State football player Kirk Herbstreit had a strange 2024. He took a lot of criticism for seemingly rooting against the Buckeyes in their first-round game against Tennessee. He also took criticism for saying Indiana didn't belong in the College Football Playoff.

Herbstreit also claimed in an interview with Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman that he doesn't actually use his own X account and that his son uses it. That's a statement he walked back on Tuesday, saying that it is his own account and that he apologizes for the confusion.

What was even stranger was seeing Herbstreit dressed up in Michigan gear along with his son. ESPN tweeted out a picture of them celebrating his son's commitment together wearing maize and blue. For some reason, the post is no longer up on social media.

For those of you who haven't seen the picture, here is what it looks like.

You can tell that it pains Kirk to put on that gear. It's strange that the post was deleted in the first place. Perhaps it was getting too many negative comments because he was in TTUN gear, but Herbstreit's original post quote-tweet that post is still up.

Either way, it's super weird seeing Herbstreit wearing Michigan gear, even if his son is attending the school. It's still strange that his son accepted a scholarship to play for them, even if it was the only scholarship that he was able to get. Chase Herbstreit wasn't a ranked high-school recruit.

The Buckeyes are hoping to make Herbstreit and his son sad next year when they play in The Big House next year. That would end a four-game losing streak to TTUN. Still, the Buckeyes are the defending national champions, and that's all that really matters.

Herbstreit has a very strange social media presence. Perhaps it's time for him to stay off X and just focus on spending time with his family now that football season is over. He will be back to working hard before we know it.
