Ohio State has a visceral hate for Michigan. It has been like that for over 100 years, and the Buckeyes and the Wolverines are part of the best rivalry in all of sports. The hate between the two programs is a big reason for that, and that was on display when the Buckeyes spanked TTUN last season.
J.T. Tuimoloau and Caden Curry were teammates at Ohio State for a couple of years. Both are now members of the Indianapolis Colts. Both were asked to say something nice about TTUN. Neither one of them had any positive reaction, and it was hilarious to watch.
Former Ohio State teammates refuse to say something nice about TTUN
In a prompt set up by the Colts' social media team, they wanted players to say something nice about their college rivals. While a few players did try to say something, neither Tuimoloau nor Curry said anything about TTUN. They just walked by in silence. Neither Tuimoloau nor Curry said anything, which is the perfect response. As Buckeyes, they shouldn't have anything to say about the Wolverines. That's especially true since both of them took on TTUN during the height of their cheating scandal, which is the worst in modern college football history.
The Colts don't have any Michigan players on the roster, so they didn't have a chance to respond. Still, it's likely that they would have had the same response as both Curry and Tuimoloau. These two programs will continue hating each other for a long time, even if Kyle Whittingham doesn't believe in the hate.
Both Curry and Tuimoloau will surely be tuning in for Week 1 when the Buckeyes take on the Ball State Cardinals. Since the NFL doesn't start until next weekend, they should be able to watch the game in peace, unless they have practice scheduled.
Ohio State's dominance over TTUN should continue this season
It's pretty clear that TTUN is in a state of chaos right now. Even though they have a respected coach in Whittingham, he doesn't understand the rivalry. Bryce Underwood is a few games away from looking like the biggest bust in modern college football history.
Ohio State was able to regain the mental edge in the 27-9 victory a year ago. Ryan Day now knows what it feels like to beat the Wolverines with his own players, and that should translate to later in the year when The Game is played in November. There won't be Senior Day festivities to worry about, either.
There is no doubt that Ohio State should get a win in Week 1 against the Cardinals. TTUN likely will, too, against Western Michigan. However, both teams will have a much tougher game in Week 2. While Ohio State has Texas' number, TTUN could lose its first game in a season that could see them accumulate four or five losses.
