Defensive line coach Larry Johnson has proven a lot to Ohio State football fans this offseason. In the last few months, he has landed two five-star recruits on the defensive line. Both DJ Jacobs and Marcus Fakatou are quite a haul in one recruiting class, and that's what Johnson has done.

In his mid-70s, Johnson clearly isn't showing signs of slowing down. Despite some Buckeye fans wanting Johnson to consider retirement, he keeps chugging along. He's looking to assemble the best single recruiting class he has had in five years when he landed both Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau.

On Saturday afternoon, he was able to further help that agenda along. Johnson and the Ohio State Buckeyes were hoping to land Karlos May, a four-star recruit from the state of Alabama. He had been crystal-balled to Ohio State for weeks, and those predictions came true.

Four-star defensive line recruit Karlos May commits to the Ohio State football program

May has chosen Ohio State to play his college football. He chose Ohio State over both Georgia and Auburn, which gives Ohio State another win over the SEC. They are hoping to get another recruiting win over the SEC next week when David Gabriel Georges announces his decision.

May stands at 6'3.5 and 305 pounds. He is a great size to be a defensive tackle at the collegiate level, and he is likely going to be part of the defensive line rotation over the next few years. He becomes the fourth defensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class, and it could be Johnson's best class yet.

While May not get immediate playing time as a freshman, he will be a solid backup. As a sophomore, he will fight for a starting spot and will, at the very least, be able to be a big part of the rotation. He is a great addition to the 2027 class at this stage in the process.

Ohio State is putting together a solid recruiting class

With still a few months to make some more progress, the Ohio State Buckeyes are putting together a really good recruiting class. There is a really good chance that the Buckeyes end up with a top-five recruiting class. That's especially true if they are able to land DGG next week.

Ryan Day started slowly when it came to adding to the recruiting class early in the spring. For a while, it looked like Day was somehow going to end up with his worst recruiting class since becoming the head coach of the Buckeyes. However, he has clearly been able to turn it around.

Ohio State still has a few months until Signing Day to add some more recruits, as well. Most of the big fish will be off the board by the time the Fall rolls around. Even so, Day and his coaching staff are going to be able to put together a class that will help the program for the next few years.

May is one of them, and Johnson has been the best recruiter on Day's staff in this cycle.
