The Ohio State football team showed why they are the most talented team in college football after crushing Oregon in the Rose Bowl. They boat-raced the Ducks 41-21 after jumping out to a 34-8 lead in the first half. It was a game that was never close at any point and saw Jeremiah Smith become a national star in.
This is the second game in a row that the Buckeyes rendered their opponent non-competitive. The Ohio State Buckeyes got their revenge against the Ducks after losing in the first matchup. While they deserve a ton of credit, not everyone was willing to do that.
Oregon coach Dan Lanning was thoroughly out-coached in this game. The Buckeyes were dominant on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball and Lanning had no answers. Despite this, he had a very tone-deaf response to the Buckeyes spanking his Ducks.
Dan Lanning doesn't give the Ohio State football team any credit for beating Oregon
Following the loss to the Buckeyes, Lanning tried to insult the Buckeyes for their loss to Michigan in the last game of the season. Take a look at his quote below from his post-game press conference in a game where his team lost by 20 points.
I mean, really? You reference the Michigan game, right after your team gets absolutely slaughtered in front of every college football fan in the College Football Playoff? How much more tone-deaf can you get? Instead of giving Ohio State credit for being the better team, he comes out and says that.
Lanning clearly didn't have what it takes to win a game against a team that was evenly matched in terms of talent. After this performance, it's clear Ohio State was better in the first game, too. Oregon just had home-field advantage. That's the biggest reason why they won that game.
Oregon just needs to take its loss and move on. They have to figure out how to make sure this loss doesn't carry over into next season. This was not the way to handle things.
