The Ohio State football team destroyed Oregon in the Rose Bowl and showed that they should be the favorites to win the national championship.

The Ohio State football team played their best game of the season against Tennessee by beating them 42-17. That performance was impressive enough. They played twice as well against Oregon in the Rose Bowl, demolishing them 42-21 in a game they were up 34-8 at halftime.

Jeremiah Smith had an all-time first half, scoring two touchdowns and catching five passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns. He finished with seven catches for 187 yards and those two first-half touchdowns. He wasn't the only great offensive player for the Buckeyes.

TreVeyon Henderson did more with less in this game. He had just eight carries but gained 94 yards and had two touchdowns. His long run was a 66-yard house call in the first half. It was a repeat performance for him after what he did against the Volunteers.

The Ohio State football team should be the favorites to win the national championship

After winning this game, the Ohio State Buckeyes will now face Texas in the Cotton Bowl in the semifinals. It's a game that will be played in Dallas, so it will be a clear home-field advantage for the Longhorns. Even so, the Buckeyes should be the favorites to win the national championship.

Not only did Ohio State beat the only undefeated team left in college football, but they absolutely destroyed them. Oregon never had a chance in this game. The Buckeyes shut them down with their great defense. They have the best defense left in the CFP.

Even if Texas opens as a favorite in this game, there's no reason to think they will win that game. They should have lost to Arizona State. The Buckeyes haven't been challenged in the College Football Playoff yet. It's looking like it could be a special redemption story for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.
