The Ohio State football program has been one of the most consistent programs in all of sports. They almost never have a down year. Quite frankly, it's one of the most impressive feats in college football. The only losing season they've had in the last two decades was in the 2011 season when Luke Fickell was the head coach.
This season, Las Vegas doesn't believe much in the Buckeyes. They set their win total at just 9.5, which is the lowest win total that the Ohio State Buckeyes have had in a while. That total is according to FanDuel.
Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change
It seems absurd that their win total would be so low, but Ohio State does have a very tough schedule. In fact, it's the toughest one they have had in a while. Three college football pundits can't believe that is their total and think that picking them to go over is easy money.
Stewart Mandel thinks Ohio State goes over their win total
While speaking on The Audible, multiple college football pundits from The Athletic believe that picking Ohio State to go over their win total of 9.5 is the easiest one on the board. They cited Ohio State's incredible consistency over the years as a big reason for his choice.
"Ohio State does not not win 10 games when it plays 12 regular-season games. So I understand all of the things lining against them here, but I'll take Ohio State over 9.5. And again, I feel like we're getting a gift here." Ralph Russo said.
"I just can't imagine Ohio State going 9-3, given all they have back," Bruce Feldman chimed in.
"Would I rather put my money, as Ralph said, on something that has happened in all but one year since 2005?" Stewart Mandel mentioned.
All three believe that it's absurd that the Buckeyes have such a low total heading into this season, even though the schedule is harder than usual. Ryan Day would certainly hear it from fans if they only ended up winning nine games this season.
Ohio State should be a national championship contender
Not only should the Buckeyes win more than nine games, but they should be a contender for a national championship. Ohio State should be able to make the College Football Playoff, even if they don't end up winning the Big Ten. They are one of the top contenders to win a national title.
A lot of that is because of the offensive talent that they bring back. Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith should be better than they were a year ago. Smith is already the best receiver in college football, as well. Sayin has been working very hard on improving his scrambling, which should make him more effective.
It would be a massive failure if Ohio State lost three games in the regular season. It would also renew fans' anger towards Ryan Day. That is highly unlikely to happen, though. This team is just too good.
