Carnell Tate Injury: Ryan Day's silence doesn't seem great for Ohio State football

No update from Day on the superstar wideout?

In the win over Purdue last weekend, things were fantastic for the Ohio State football team, as a dominant win was posted as expected. However, countless fans were worried beyond belief when Carnell Tate was nowhere to be found on the field.

Ryan Day raises the standard for the Ohio State football team in a massive way

He was in full uniform, but out of action. Ryan Day said he felt something during warmups and the staff made the call to just have him sit that game out. So, what's his status for the upcoming showdown with UCLA? While Day provided updates on other injured Buckeyes, there was nothing to say about Tate. This doesn't seem promising at all:

Ryan Day didn't provide an injury update on star Ohio State WR Carnell Tate

This could be a case where Tate is more than fine and Day didn't feel the need to bring things up. However, there's a concern that maybe, just maybe this injury for Tate is a bit more serious than everyone thought it was. Either way, it's a surprise that Day didn't give any news on his WR and that he wasn't asked about it.

In the victory over the Boilermakers, Julian Sayin topped 300 yards and had a touchdown on the day. Jeremiah Smith got some more looks with Tate hurt and he took full advantage of things, hauling in 10 receptions for 137 yards and a score.

The Ohio State offense was humming in the 34-10 win and more of the same is expected this weekend with the Bruins making their way to The Shoe. Another lopsided W should be on the way for Day and his coaching staff in this one.

With that said, it's totally unknown at this point if Tate is going to be healthy enough to play or not. Despite not playing last weekend, he was seen multiple times on the sidelines with a smile on his face and cheering on his teammates. He was moving around gingerly, though, so he was clearly in discomfort. The hope is he can play vs. UCLA, but with Day not giving an update, we're all left guessing on his status for Week 12.
