Every winter and spring, Ohio State football fans are on high alert when it comes to players potentially leaving for the transfer portal. In the winter, there were plenty of people who were worried sick that standout wide receiver Jeremiah Smith would transfer to Miami.
That didn't happen. Then this spring, more rumors arrived surrounding Smith and others. Once again, though, Ryan Day and his coaching staff were able to prevent teams from coming in and poaching top players. This is something wideout Carnell Tate is quite excited about.
Tate is coming off a strong sophomore year and he's ready to make more noise in 2025. He's also loving how close the Buckeyes are heading into the new season. If anything, Tate is grateful that the guys in the locker room continue to buy in to what the program is building:
"It shows we have a true Brotherhood here in Columbus. All the guys are here for the program and it's bigger than themselves."

Carnell Tate is proud of the Ohio State brotherhood in Columbus
Yup, if you're a Buckeyes fan, you've absolutely got to love what Tate had to say. This team is coming off a National Championship-winning season. It would have been easy for guys to chase 'a bag' and look for monster NIL deals via the portal.
Instead, Day and his coaches connected with everyone, got on the same page and the focus is set on repeating as the champs next winter. Last year was one to remember, with Will Howard, TreVeyon Henderson, Jack Sawyer and so many others being electric.
However, 14 Ohio State (14!) were just selected in the NFL Draft and youngsters are going to have to step up to deliver for this team moving forward. Tate knows there's going to be pressure on him to help make up for the loss of Emeka Egbuka to the league, but he's ready to step up for Day and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline. He's got the right mindset already too with the new campaign still four months away.
