Another Ohio State national title isn't the only think on Jeremiah Smith's mind

Since he was a freshman, Jeremiah Smith has done nothing but be an impact player for the Ohio State football team. His ability to make spectacular catches and make plays after the catch has made him the premier weapon in college football. He might be the best player in the country, too.

Smith was a big reason why the Buckeyes were able to win the national championship in 2024. By the time the College Football Playoff rolled around, he had emerged as the most dangerous player on the field. Last season, he was used as a major weapon, as well.

Even though he won a national championship in 2024, he failed to do so last season. Smith wants to finish his collegiate career with another national title, but that's not his only goal. Smith also has some other individual accolades that he would like to add to his mantle before he leaves Columbus.

Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith wants to win the Biletnikoff Award

As Smith showed off on social media, he wants to be recognized as the best receiver in the country. That means winning the Biletnikoff Award, which he has surprisingly never done. The most recent winner of that award for the Ohio State Buckeyes was Marvin Harrison Jr.

Smith not only has a shot to win the Biletnikoff in his final year with the Buckeyes, but he is also a Heisman candidate. As a junior, he has already sent a warning to the rest of college football for what they can expect from him. He is ready to be better than ever.

If he is able to win the Biletnikoff, that would only solidify the fact that he will be a top-five pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. If he is able to win the Heisman, he has a shot to be the number one overall pick. A Heisman win would likely coincide with a Buckeye national championship, as well.

Jeremiah Smith would rather win a ntional title than individual awards

While winning individual awards is great, Smith has made it clear that his ultimate goal is winning another national championship. He will not be playing four years in college, so this is his last chance to win a national title. That is what matters to him the most in 2026.

He will get a chance to show off his skill early on against Texas. The Longhorns have a defensive player who is already talking smack, so the Buckeyes want to beat them for the third straight year. A big game from Smith in Week 2 would certainly be a great start in his campaign to win individual awards.

Of course, the play of Julian Sayin is going to have a large amount to say about whether or not Smith will have a shot to win awards. He's the one throwing him the ball, so he will have the most to say about his chances of winning the Biletnikoff or the Heisman Trophy.

Time will tell if Smith is going to be able to accomplish all of his goals in 2026.
