The Ohio State football to Pittsburgh pipeline just continues growing. In late April, Buckeyes fans were overcome with emotion when Mike Tomlin and Co. drafted both Jack Sawyer and Will Howard. Now, another former Buckeyes is set to join them in town: running back Trey Sermon.

On Sunday, the news broke that Sermon has signed a one-year deal to join the AFC North side. Sermon was taken in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent one season in SF before joining the Eagles in 2022. Then, he spent the past two campaigns with the Colts before putting the pen to paper most recently to play for the Steelers:

Last season for the Colts, Sermon appeared in all 17 games, carrying the ball 56 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns. The campaign before, he posted 160 rushing yards on 35 carries. He's yet to see significant playing time in his young career, but he's ready to try and make an impact with his fourth NFL squad.

Sermon spent three years with the Oklahoma Sooners before deciding to transfer and close out his college career with the Buckeyes. He didn't spend a ton of time in Columbus, suiting up for only one season for Ohio State, but he helped OSU reach the CFP title game in January 2021.

Unfortunately, Sermon suffered an injury early on in the loss to Alabama with the trophy on the line. Despite that, he rushed for 870 yards and four touchdowns for the Buckeyes that fall. He was a ton of fun to watch with the ball in his hands.

Again, he didn't spend a lot of time with Ohio State, but he won over plenty of fans during his short time on campus. Moving forward, people will continue to follow his career closely and things sure are made more fun knowing he'll be teammates with Howard and Sawyer, plus Ohio State legend Cam Heyward. Fellow former Ohio State standouts Malik Harrison and Cameron Johnston are also on the roster.
