After weeks of saying he wouldn't flip, Ohio State football team loses five-star CB

Despite multiple posts on social media over a number of weeks claiming he was locked into the Ohio State football program, a five-star corner flipped his recruitment.

For the Ohio State football program, there were a few things that they needed to do on Early Signing Day. There were a couple of players that they were worried about flipping. One of their recruits, Zion Grady, decided to sign with the Buckeyes. That was a good job of keeping him from leaving.

The biggest recruit that they wanted to keep from flipping was five-star cornerback Na'eem Offord. Offord has been rumored to be flipping his recruitment for months. Every time those rumors were floated, he came out on social media and shot down those rumors.

Still, his actions seemed to contradict his words. He was still taking visits to multiple other schools. Why would you keep doing that if you are 100% locked in with the Ohio State Buckeyes? We now know why he was doing that because Offord has flipped his recruitment to Oregon.

Na'eem Offord flips his commitment from the Ohio State football team to Oregon

Offord officially announced his commitment to Oregon, Ohio State's Big Ten foe. The Buckeyes now have lost one of their two five-star corners. The good news is that Devin Sanchez, who is the number-one corner in the country, did sign with the Buckeyes. That lessens the blow of losing someone like Offord.

Ohio State was expected to lose Offord based on the chatter that had come out in the last few days. It's just a bummer to actually see it happen. It also means that the overall strength of the recruiting class takes a hit. Losing a five-star recruit, no matter the position, is not great.

The good news for the Buckeyes is that David Saners Jr. will no longer sign on Wednesday. There's hope that the Buckeyes have flipped him and used the money allocated to Offord to help that along. We'll see what happens on that front.
