Week 1 of the college football season had a bad slate of games, but plenty of controversy. There was no controversy in Ohio State's game against Ball State, as they destroyed the Cardinals 56-3. However, there was plenty of nonsense that happened in the Michigan/Western Michigan game.
Western Michigan was robbed of a victory that would have propelled them to become the favorite G6 school to make the College Football Playoff. It was a miscarriage of justice that needs to be fixed. The Big Ten's explanation was unsatisfactory, so now the Buckeyes must carry out justice in November.
Ohio State must annihilate TTUN to carry out justice for the rest of college football
At the end of the season, the Ohio State Buckeyes must absolutely torch the Wolverines. They were gifted a win that they clearly did not deserve. After years of documented cheating, it seems they have gotten away with yet another victory they should not have obtained.
While Ohio State can't give that victory back to the Broncos, they can embarrass the Wolverines to the point of no return. In that opener, it was abundantly clear that Kyle Whittingham's team is going to struggle this season. They very well could lose six or seven games this season.
With that being the case, there is a chance that a loss to the Buckeyes would knock TTUN out of contention for playing in a bowl game. There is no greater humiliation that they could suffer than to lose to the Scarlet and Gray by 50 in order to miss out on a bowl game.
That margin of defeat is in play for the Wolverines after the play of Bryce Underwood. Underwood finished the game against Western Michigan 12/22 for 170 yards, one touchdown, one pick, and a fumble. Take away that nonsense Hail Mary, and he only threw for 123 yards against a MAC school.
Ohio State needs to do what the cowardly Big Ten couldn't
The offices at the Big Ten should be ashamed of what they have done to the Broncos. It seems like the MAC is just going to accept the loss and move on, which is horrible for the sport. With that being the case, the Buckeyes need to take Michigan behind the woodshed.
A beating of 50+ points might force TTUN to fire Whittingham after just one year. It's clear that the program is in shambles already. A massive beatdown at the end of the season would push them further into the dirt while the Buckeyes rise to the top of the Big Ten once more.
Of course, Ohio State can't think about any of that right now. They have to focus on taking on Texas on Saturday. That is a massive game with huge College Football Playoff implications. Winning that game gives them a massive leg up on their competition in the CFP standings.
Still, crushing TTUN into smithereens is something they will have in the back of their minds all season long. Fans across the country would welcome seeing that.
