A noon kickoff could cost the Ohio State football team a five-star recruit
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football program is looking for its quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. They already have their quarterback for the 2025 class. That is Bellefontaine native Tavien St. Clair, who is the number-two recruit in the entire country. Now, they have turned their attention to the 2026 class.
One player who they have been very interested in the last few weeks is Jared Curtis. Curtis is a five-star recruit who is listed as the number-one quarterback in the country. He was committed to Georgia until a month ago. Now, his recruitment is back open and programs are circling.
The Ohio State Buckeyes would love to have him. They have been in contact with him and Curtis has mentioned that Ohio State is high on his list. They were hoping that they were going to be able to get him on campus for the IU game. Instead, Big Noon Kickoff is keeping that from happening.
Jared Curtis won't visit the Ohio State football program for the IU game because of Big Noon
Curtis is now allegedly not going to be in Columbus next weekend because of the fact that it's a noon game. He was going to to try to swing up from Nashville, but the game is too early now to make a day trip. It could end up costing the Buckeyes a chance at him.
Of course, Curtis could still visit for the Michigan game. That would be the last chance that Ohio State could have to get him on campus this year. They still have plenty of time next season to get him on campus for an official visit. The issue is that he might commit somewhere else before that happens.
The talk that having so many noon games is affecting recruiting isn't going to go away after news like this. It's also not necessarily wrong. They just need to be prepared for how many games they will likely play on FOX next year and plan accordingly. Quite frankly, recruits should know this too by now.
