Since he took over as head coach at Miami, Mario Cristobal has had zero issues trying to flip top playmakers across the country. This is something Ohio State football knows all about and they're hoping Cristobal and his staff swing and miss with a future OSU playmaker.
Since November, 5-star wide receiver Jamier Brown, a 2027 product, has been committed to the Buckeyes. Despite that, he has taken other visits and this weekend he'll be making his way to Coral Gables to watch the Canes take on Florida per Sports Illustrated. For several different reasons, this is a sizable concern for Day and the Buckeyes as a whole.

For starters, Miami is also one of the top teams in the country and the offense is looking electric after starting Cam Ward last season and then also bringing in Carson Beck to take over the unit for the 2025 campaign. Beck is now the new favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Cristobal is going all-in recruiting wise for this matchup with Florida, bringing in top talent from all over the place. It makes sense that Miami is trying to make this a weekend to remember, as College GameDay will be in town and the atmosphere on campus is going to be electric.
That's exciting for the Miami faithful, but not something that Ohio State fans are loving too much. Just recently, Brown was in Columbus to watch the Buckeyes take down then No. 1 Texas and Arch Manning. Brown has consistently said he's locked in with Ohio State to play for Day and Brian Hartline.
However, Miami, Notre Dame and others are still pushing hard to get him to change his mind before he makes things official with Ohio State in December 2026. According to the 247Sports Composite, Brown, an in-state product out of Wayne High in Dayton, is the No. 1 WR in the country and No. 6 player overall for '27. Day is hoping to fend off the other schools chasing him, but that's going to be no easy task for him and the reigning national champs.
