We've been here before.
Whenever Ohio State and Ryan Day are able to reel in a 5-star prospect, it feels like other teams waste no time in trying to work a flip. That's what is happening when it comes to stud EDGE DJ Jacobs, who is Columbus-bound... for now.

Despite that, some panic alarms are going off, as the elite playmaker has made his way to Coral Gables for an unofficial visit with Miami. Head man Mario Cristobal is working his magic to change Jacobs' mind, as the Canes are bringing in a ton of visitors during spring ball to sell them on what the program is doing. Time for Day and his staff to worry?

5-star Ohio State commit DJ Jacobs is giving Miami and Mario Cristobal a serious look
The timing of this visit is not a coincidence, as Miami indeed has a loaded group of visitors in town - the list includes 5-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle. Interestingly enough, Ohio State is also making a strong push for the touted hoss.
As for Jacobs, he was in Columbus recently for an unofficial visit, making the trip with his younger brother Dawson, a 2028 defensive lineman. Day, Matt Patricia and Co. are working their magic to get both standouts to Big Ten country for their college ball, but Cristobal has other ideas.
Miami has been aggressive in its pursuit of Jacobs, which indeed is not good news for the Buckeyes. The 6-5, 235-pound Georgia product is the No. 1 EDGE in the country and No. 1 prospect overall for 2027 according to 247Sports. He also holds 38 offers to his name.
When Ohio State originally landed his pledge, it was monster news for Ohio State and Day. With the Early Signing Period not getting here until December, however, there's pressure on Ohio State to keep reminding Jacobs why he picked OSU in the first place.
Other teams are going to keep working to flip him, with Miami looking to be the ones to make a splash right now. Jacobs is committed to Ohio State for now, but this latest visit to south Florida could change things in a big way for him. Buckeyes fans are hoping that's not going to be the case.
