As the Ohio State football team is preparing to play Missouri in the Cotton Bowl, Ryan Day should be looking at these three coaches to add to his staff in 2024.

With preparations underway for the Cotton Bowl against Missouri, the month of December sure will be a busy one for Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team. Not only with the bowl game and putting on the finishing touches of the 2024 recruiting class, but also with what’s to come next season.

Ryan Day has major decisions to make, not only with the roster via the transfer portal but with his coaching staff. A few weeks ago, we gave letter grades to all the coaches on staff and it’s clear that a few of them are not up to snuff. At a major program like Ohio State, the assistant coaches should be the best in the business and some of them are not.

Here are three coaches that the Ohio State football program and head coach Ryan Day should hire immediately.

No. 1) Kenny Guiton, WR Coach, Arkansas

The former Buckeye backup quarterback under Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer has made a very nice name for himself in coaching circles. Last season I argued that Guiton should be hired if Brian Hartline were to leave to become a head coach. Now, I think the time is right to put this man on staff regardless.

He is a relentless recruiter, doing very good work in getting solid wide receiver talent to a below-average SEC program. Guiton was also named the interim offensive coordinator this past season for the Razorbacks when Dan Enos was let go. Guiton also has experience coaching at Louisiana Tech, Houston, and Colorado State. He is ready for his next big opportunity, and that should be in Columbus, Ohio.

There would be a few options for how Day can incorporate Guiton into the staff. Whether it be as wide receivers coach and letting Hartline focus on being the offensive coordinator or by letting Guiton coach the quarterbacks, as he was a former gunslinger in his playing days.
