The transfer portal has changed the way college sports operate. In college football, there are two chances to enter the portal; right after the season and right after Spring ball. The Ohio State football team has already seen a few players opt into the portal now that their regular season is done.

Omari Abor was the first one to announce his place in the portal. Abor is a sophomore and has only recorded stats in two games in his career. He recorded a tackle against Western Kentucky and against Purdue this season. He’s been a non-factor and is looking to go somewhere where he can actually get playing time.

The same can be said for Victor Cutler. Cutler transferred to Ohio State this past year from Louisana expecting to compete for the starting center job. Instead, he was a backup to Carson Hinzman all year. He wants to go somewhere he can start.

Cam Martinez has also put his name into the portal. Martinez has been with the Ohio State football program for four years and has never really found his footing. His playing time has decreased each year from 2021 on and he hasn’t shown himself to be an impact player.

None of these players are big losses for the Buckeyes. Martinez is the guy who has played the most but he wasn’t a starter either. I don’t think the coaching staff is too broken up about having these guys leave. We certainly wish them the best moving forward though.

These three won’t be the only Buckeyes to get into the transfer portal before the season is done. I’d bet there will be at least a handful more guys that dive into it before the month is over. A lot of guys on this team are looking for more playing time that they aren’t getting in Columbus.
