If you thought Buckeye Nation was being toxic on social media before the Ohio State football team lost three games in a row to that team up north, it has been in a nuclear meltdown since. So much so, that I had to try and find a way to put some physical numbers to the emotions that fans were expressing.

I posed the following poll question on both Facebook and X; Where are you currently at with Ryan Day? Your options were: A.) Fire him now. B.) He is officially on the hot seat. C.) You can’t fire a coach who wins 11 games every season. And D.) I love Ryan Day and he deserves a lifetime contract.

Here are the Facebook Poll results.

Here were the X Poll results.

As you can see, Facebook, which had almost two hundred more votes than X, was a little more supportive of Day than the voters on X. Generally, the Facebook age demographic is a little older than that on X. You would think that those who lived through the John Cooper era would draw some similarities between he and Day when it comes to their lack of success against the maize and blue. However, it would appear that that isn’t the motivation behind their more positive voting.

We had this same discussion over the weekend on The OHIO Podcast where things got pretty heated.

Even though there is a very vocal minority who want Day fired after losing his third straight game to TTUN, it certainly appears that given the changes on the horizon to college football and the CFP, an 11-win season is good enough for most fans, despite losing to your bitter rival every year.

It’s also apparent that Day’s seat is getting hotter. It might not be completely on fire for the majority of Ohio State football fans, especially those who are of the more mature verity, but one has to wonder how many more losses to Michigan even the most patient of Buckeye fans can stomach before they are ready to cut ties with Day.
