Ohio State Football: One surprise player for the TTUN game
The Ohio State football team is prepared to square off with Michigan on Saturday afternoon. This surprise player needs to be at his best for the Buckeyes.
The Ohio State football team looks to avenge two straight losses to the cheaters that are Michigan on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor. But as the Buckeyes prepare for battle, one surprise player needs to be at his best for the Buckeyes come Saturday.
Senior linebacker Steel Chambers will have a major impact on this game for Ohio State. The former running back turned linebacker will play a huge role in stopping the vaunted Michigan running game of Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards. He will need to make tackles and be in the right gaps for this Buckeye rush defense.
But more than just being in the right spots at the right time in the run game, Chambers will also be asked to play a role in coverage as well, as he will be locked up with Michigan tight end, Colston Loveland, who is one of the Wolverines better pass catchers. Loveland has 32 receptions for 462 yards and four touchdowns this season, so stopping him will have to be a priority for Ohio State.
It will be up to Chambers to not be caught off guard by the play-action game of J.J. McCarthy and to be ready to cover the elusive tight end or running backs coming from the backfield. Donovan Edwards is very skilled at receiving so Chambers will need to be cognizant of him is passing situations.
Simply put, if Steele Chambers does his job on Saturday afternoon, it will be very hard for the Wolverines to beat the Buckeyes. And I believe that Chambers is up to the task. Big defensive letdowns crushed the Buckeyes’ hopes of victory over TTUN the past few seasons. Chambers and Co. will be ready to not let the same happen this time around.
