Ohio State Football: Confidence level against Minnesota
By Eric Boggs
Total Confidence Level – 95 percent
This will be the final time Buckeye Nation will be able to watch their beloved Ohio State football team at home this season. It’s sure to be somewhat of a sad moment watching some of the seniors who fans have grown accustomed to watching on a weekly basis for the past three to four seasons playing in the Horseshoe for the final time. After those tears are wiped away from the eyes of our more emotional fans, you can expect the Buckeyes to get down to business quickly.
The Golden Gophers haven’t quite had the kind of season their fans were expecting, and with their big rival game against Wisconsin also on the horizon, there has been talk that Fleck might sit some of his better players who have been dealing with some nagging injuries. There is also a chance Day could do the same thing with the likes of Denzel Burke, Tommy Eichenberg, Josh Proctor on defense, and Emeka Egbuka on offense. Hopefully, the Ohio State football team can get out to a big enough lead early that the coaching staff will feel comfortable playing the second and third-string backups for the majority of the second half.
If this is the case, you can be confident that the attention of Buckeye Nation will begin turning toward that bitter rival up north as the greatest week of the college football season embarks upon us. I know there is a tendency to look ahead, which certainly I am guilty of in this column, but I am confident that there has been little to none of that taking place this week at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
The Ohio State football team is in the midst of a college football playoff run that could all come crashing down if they were to stumble and lose against a Minnesota team that has no business beating them. Which is why my confidence level is at an extremely solid 95 percent. This is one of the higher percentages I have had all season due to my belief that this team could possibly be peaking at just the right time.
