Why the Ohio State Football team should like where they sit

The Ohio State football team is in a good spot for a number of reasons. Some stats show they should love where they sit.

It always feels good to be number one. That is exactly what the Ohio State football team is for the second straight week after the CFP rankings were released. Their resumé is what has them at number one even if they haven’t played some of the best offensive football we’ve seen.

Even if the offense has struggled in the first half of some of these games, they should still like where they sit for a multitude of reasons. Obviously, being number one gives them a cushion to play some ugly games as long as they still win. That’s a luxury.

Secondly, the defense has been truly elite. Nationally, they are second in points per game allowed, fifth in total yards allowed, and fourth in passing yards allowed. They’ve done all of that with a top-20 strength of schedule too, so it’s not like they’re playing a bunch of patsies.

Third, the Buckeyes play two teams in the next couple of weeks that are the perfect opponents to take on before The Game. Michigan State is awful on both sides of the ball and should help Ohio State get back on track offensively. Minnesota is a bit better and should give them a nice boost in competition before the Michigan game.

Would I feel better if the Ohio State football team was scoring 40+ points per game and throwing for 300+ yards every game? Sure I would. But having an elite defense and two more games to fix the slow starts on offense puts the Buckeyes in a great spot.

Next. TTUN is trying to drag OSU down with them. dark

Ohio State is blocking the outside noise and will be ready for Saturday night’s game. There’s no reason why they shouldn’t blow out a bad Spartans team as they head. It’s all about getting better these next two weeks and improving an already great position to be in.
