Total – Confidence Level 80%

My total confidence level for Ohio State’s road game against Purdue is at 80 percent. On only two occasions have I been at 80 percent or higher and Ohio State has lost. One was in 2017 when Ohio State lost at Iowa and the other was in 2018 when the Buckeyes lost to Purdue. That night I was at 88 percent, which made that loss so shocking.

I will be shocked once again if the Ohio State football team loses to Purdue. I understand that Ohio State’s track record isn’t good when making this trip to West Lafayette. Believe me when I say, that played a large role in why I am only at 80 percent. Given Purdue’s record and how they have looked this season, Ohio State should be well over 90 percent, and if this game was being played at home, they most certainly would be. But I just can’t ignore our poor history of playing Purdue on their home turf.

A win over Ohio State could do for Ryan Walters what a win over Notre Dame has done for former Purdue head coach Jeff Brohm. Brohm is currently the toast of the town in Louisville, Kentucky. Despite a 2-4 record, if Walters can somehow pull off the upset over Ohio State, no doubt the Purdue faithful will be toasting his name all over the Hoosier state as well.

The Ohio State football team has a big date with Penn State circled for next weekend. They will no doubt be the focus of the college football world next Saturday when FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff rolls back into town along with James Franklin and the Nittany Lions of Penn State. But before then, Day and the Buckeyes need to take care of business on the road and silence some ghosts from 2018 that still haunt this fanbase.
