The X-Factor – Confidence Level 6

Maryland has been knocking on the door for the past couple of years. I personally believe that if this team played in the west division of the Big Ten Conference, they would have made it to Indianapolis for a Big Ten Championship game already. But alas, they play in one of, if not the toughest division in all of college football.

Earlier this season at Big Ten media days, Locksley didn’t shy away from saying that the expectations of this football team were to compete for a Big Ten Championship. If they are going to reach that goal, that means they need to win this Saturday against Ohio State. You can expect Maryland to play with a lot of fire.

Locksley and Tagovailoa have never defeated one of the big three in the east (Ohio State, Penn State, and TTUN.) Maryland fans are convinced that the  Ohio State football team is ripe for the picking and could be the one they beat if they are going to only defeat one of the big three this season. You can never underestimate a team’s motivation. Ohio State is going to receive Maryland’s very best shot. If the Terrapins can’t do it this year, then one has to ask the question when will they do it?

I believe Maryland will approach this game very similar to how Notre Dame did when it comes to physicality and grit. Maryland isn’t going to be intimidated by the fact that they are playing Ohio State or in front of 105,000 Buckeye fans. That being said, I’m at a six on my X-Factor score. Thankfully Ohio State is playing this game after a bye week and at home as opposed to on the road the week after playing Notre Dame.
