Ohio State Football doesn’t get help on bye week
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team had their bye week at the right time. It was right after a very emotional win at Notre Dame that took a lot out of the Buckeyes emotionally. They were able to get a chance to rest and get their emotions in order before starting up again.
While the Ohio State football team was assured to not lose this week, they didn’t get much help from other teams. Only one team in the top 10 of the polls lost on Saturday. That was Utah, who lost at Oregon State and who still doesn’t have Cam Rising at quarterback.
By and large, things didn’t go super well for the Buckeyes while they were at home. They lost a recruit over the weekend and didn’t see any teams around them go down. Of course, if the Buckeyes win all of their games, it doesn’t matter what anyone else does around them.
To be fair, the slate on Saturday was not very good. There were only a few interesting games and the slate wasn’t set up for many upsets. Next week will see some better matchups and a better chance for undefeated teams to go down around the Buckeyes.
Ohio State has an undefeated Maryland team coming into the Shoe that they had two weeks to prepare for. I expect Ohio State to beat the Terrapins without too much trouble. I think the Buckeyes are in a good spot right now through five weeks of the season.
It’s a bummer that Georgia didn’t go down or that Colorado couldn’t complete their comeback against USC. But as I mentioned before, as long as the Buckeyes can take care of their business the rest of the way, then it doesn’t matter. Just win the games that are in front of you.
