The Ohio State football team has lost a 2024 commitment in offensive lineman Marc Nave. Nave, who plays for Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio, is the 44th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the country according to the 247sports composite rankings. He is the 23rd-ranked recruit in the state of Ohio and the 644th overall recruit in the nation.

Nave cited the fact that he felt like he rushed to a decision in a recent tweet.

The Ohio State football program still has three 2024 offensive linemen who remain committed at this time in Ian Moore and Devontae and Deontae Armstrong. It is believed that the Buckeyes were wanting five offensive linemen in this class. They recently lost out on five-star Brandon Baker, who chose Texas over Ohio State and others.

The offensive line recruiting has been an issue dating back to old offensive line coach Greg Studrawa. Stud got fired because he wasn’t replenishing the offensive line with recruits. That set the Buckeyes back years and it’s catching up to them now.

It’s still going to take a few years to get the offensive line depth back to what it should be. We can see that on this year’s team. The offensive line is the weakest part of the team right now, and it’s all because they got a few cycles behind in the recruiting of top talent.

At this point, there aren’t many Ohio State-caliber offensive line recruits who are uncommitted. Keep your eye on recruits who might de-commit from the schools they are currently committed to, much like Nave has done as a possible replacement for Nave. If they can’t lock down anyone they feel comfortable in, it will be back to the Transfer Portal again this off-season for the offensive line.
