Ohio State Football lands big five-star defensive lineman
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team is trying to have a better defense. They’ve made some progress in the secondary, and that’s a good thing. They were hoping to add another big piece along the defensive line too in five-star commit Eddrick Houston.
Houston was the number one target left on Ohio State’s board. He’s out of Buford, Georgia, and is listed as the fourth-best defensive lineman in the country. He would be another great dd for Larry Johnson, who has a knack for landing five-star commitments up front.
In the end, the Buckeyes were able to land him. Houston chose the Buckeyes over a long list of other schools, including Alabama, Clemson, Georiga, and USC. He is someone that can play both inside and outside, so he will be extremely versatile in Jim Knowles’ defense.
The Ohio State football team is getting a real wrecker. He can stop the run and rush the passer with equal ferocity. He is someone that can command double teams up front and force the offensive line to gameplan around. Put some other good guys around him and that defensive front is really hard to stop.
This commitment shows that Johnson still has it as a recruiter. Despite him getting up there in age, he is still respected enough around college football to land these big-time commitments. This is just another five-star recruit that he can add to his record.
This class is shaping up to be really, really good for the Buckeyes. They have a real shot to win a recruiting national championship, especially now that they just landed Houston. The defensive line is now stacked with him and Justin Scott coming in the class of 2024.
Ryan Day has to be thrilled with this commitment. The Buckeyes are back in business on the recruiting trail after some recent struggles.
