The Ohio State football team will be looking to add a big-time recruit tonight as a five-star defensive end is set to commit.

All eyes will be on the Ohio State football program and specifically defensive line coach Larry Johnson as a five-star edge rusher is set to give his verbal commitment tonight. Eddrick Houston, of Buford, Georgia is ready to verbally commit. Houston has long been seen as a Buckeye lean and the need for Larry Johnson to capitalize on this is a must.

Johnson missed out on five-star pass rusher Dylan Stewart a few weeks ago, who also was seen as an Ohio State lean. Johnson needs to close the book on a five-star end, something he has not done since 2021 when he got Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer in the same class.

Houston is set to make his choice between Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and USC tonight, around 7 p.m. Eastern. This seems to be a battle between the Buckeyes and Alabama heading into tonight, although 247 Sports has two crystal ball picks in Ohio State’s favor. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad as Stewart was also crystal ball selected to the Buckeyes as well.

And while Larry Johnson has not been recruiting at his best the past few cycles, Johnson did close the book on getting five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott last month. A pairing of Scott and Houston together in the same class would be a massive haul for the Buckeyes, and likely solidify them as a top-two class for the 2024 cycle.

Buckeye Nation will be watching tonight as Houston makes his selection. Losing out on Stewart last month and missing on four-star pass rusher Marquise Lightfoot was a big blow. But all will be forgiven if Johnson can get Houston to verbally commit tonight.
